The short version
ChoreQuest collects only what it needs to run: your email address, family name, children's names, and chore data. Your data is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used for profiling. Photos uploaded as chore evidence are stored securely and accessible only to your family. You can request deletion of all your data at any time. This summary is provided for convenience; the full policy below controls.
What data we collect
Email address
Used for parent account creation and login via a one-time verification code delivered by email. Your email address is stored securely in our database and is never shared with third parties except our email delivery provider (Amazon SES, see "Third-party services" below). Legal basis under GDPR: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)). Retention: until account deletion; we operate a 30-day soft-delete window, after which records are permanently purged.
Crash reports
We collect anonymized crash and error reports via Firebase Crashlytics to diagnose stability issues. Crash reports include device model, OS version, and a stack trace. Email addresses and personal content are redacted before upload. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) in maintaining service reliability.
Family & children's names
Parents provide a family name and children's names during setup. These are used solely to personalize the app experience. Parents confirm that each child is 13 years of age or older; we do not collect dates of birth.
Chore data
Chores created, assigned, completed, and their reward values are stored to provide the core functionality of the app. This data is accessible only to members of your family.
Evidence photos
Children may optionally upload photos as proof of chore completion. Photos are stored securely in AWS S3 and are accessible only to your family. As a parent, you are responsible for ensuring uploaded content is appropriate.

Third-party services
AWS (Amazon Web Services)
Our backend runs on AWS Lambda. Chore data is stored in DynamoDB and evidence photos in S3. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Governed by AWS's Privacy Policy.
Amazon SES (Simple Email Service)
Used to deliver one-time verification codes to parent email addresses. SES receives only your email address and the verification message; no retention beyond transmission. Processed in the United States. Governed by AWS's Privacy Policy.
Firebase (Google LLC)
Firebase Cloud Messaging is used to deliver push notifications; Firebase Crashlytics collects anonymized crash reports. Governed by Firebase's Privacy & Security Information.
International transfers: our service providers (AWS, Google) are based in the United States. Transfers out of the EEA/UK are made under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and supplementary measures where required.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict our processing of your personal data. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. We will respond within 45 days.
California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete personal information, the right to correct inaccurate personal information, the right to data portability, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a verifiable consumer request, email [email protected].
EEA / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
In addition to the rights above, you may withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent), and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority. The data controller is Fundy Digital LLC.
Children's privacy & COPPA
ChoreQuest is designed for use by families. Parents or legal guardians create accounts on behalf of their children. We collect limited personal information — including the child's name — solely to provide the service. Parents confirm that each child is 13 years of age or older; we do not collect dates of birth. We do not sell children's data to third parties. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). You may request deletion of your family's data at any time from the Settings screen within the app.
Data retention & deletion
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. Evidence photos are automatically deleted 3 days after the associated chore reaches a terminal state (approved or archived). To delete your family account, email [email protected] with the subject line "Delete Account". We will action deletion requests within 30 days. An in-app deletion option is planned for a future release. Deletion is permanent and irreversible: all family data, chore history, remaining evidence photos, and children's records will be removed.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication tokens are stored in your device's secure storage. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify you through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
